This time around it’s a more masculine Birthday card and I totally love this one. I have used SO many stamp sets in this card and my craft desk looks like a bomb has hit it, so I better go clean that up because it is driving me crazy looking at it.

Here is the sketch again just to remind you:

I am Aunty {again}

ebony-rose-layout-fill-heart-line.jpg

After much waiting and drama’s along the way I am finally an Aunty again to a beautiful little girl named Ebony Rose she was born 7:30pm on Monday 19th October 2009. She is SO cute and such a good baby, Mum is doing really well and her big sister Bailey {who is 3 years old} is very proud, I was looking after Bailey when Ebony was born, It was one of the most special moments I have experienced, I had not told Bailey that her mum was having Ebony that night but she knew that her mum was in hospital because they were checking on the “baby”, once I received the call that Ebony was born I told her and Bailey’s little face just lit up and she clapped her hands and said proudly “guess what Aunty… I am big sister now” It was just so precious. Now whenever she is with Ebony she says “it’s ok Ebony, big sister is here”…

ebony-rose-layout-fill-heart.jpg

I have taken so many photos over the past few days of Ebony and I am back into my Scrapbooking so I have Scrapbooked a photo of little Ebony Rose from Monday a couple of hours after she was born and it was the first time my sister held her. The layout was inspired by a quilt that was made for Ebony by her Aunty Lucy and I just LOVE this quilt SO much, I took elements from the quilt like the damask design, the polka dots and blocks of pattern to create the layout. I even added a little stitching detail along the bottom. I was really happy with my page and even happier with having another CUTE niece.

Here is another photo of little Ebony Rose on the quilt that inspired my page.

True Friends

great-friend-pocket-card-line2.jpg

Today I have a cute Friendship card to show using a set I LOVE from the Spring Mini called “Great Friend” It has so many images that appeal to me, To start off with I love, love, love Butterflies my love of Butterflies started when I was a little girl and my Dear little Grandma gave my a glittery Brooch in a Butterfly shape and I remember how much I loved it and in fact I still have it is my treasure box with other items that mean a lot to me, Grandma kept the Butterfly thing going once she realised how much I treasured the Brooch she gave me by getting me magnets and stickers as little gifts. Its funny the small highlights we remember from our childhood because I am sure Grandma had no idea that small gift would form into such a strong memory for me. … Anyway Moving on…. {focus Teneale}

I have also used the leaf image in this set for the background stamping it in VersaMark, It’s great how Stampin’ Up! Co-ordinate images within a set for example the leaf I have used on the background is also in the Butterfly wing detail {love that} AND I really love having Co-ordinating Printed Papers…. I have used the Printed Papers on the scallop. To create the scallop I punched out a bunch of Circles using my 1” circle punch and attached them along the outside of a larger circle making a lovely scallop circle.

great-friend-pocket-card.jpg

As you can see this card has a little secret pocket by pulling the little bow in the top corner, a special message is revealed…. I love designing cards with a little surprise. The stamp I have used for the “True Friend” is from the Friendly Words wheel that I took off the wheel and cut up to make a Fabulous Friendship Greeting set, To see how I did that scroll down to the next post of click here.

nursery-necessities-regal-girl-line.jpg

I am about to enter “baby season” I know so many people who are about to have babies between October and December, but the most important baby coming is from my Sister who is due in a few weeks however I think she will have it early {like any day now}. Yesterday I went with her for the last ultrasound and I am SO excited for her to finally have this baby she has had lots of problems along the way so we all just want her to have the baby and know that everything is OK with her and the baby. It was the best ultrasound so far because we found out the sex as every other ultrasound the legs were crossed so we could not really tell and we got a pretty good look at the face and little hands….So cute.

This is not the card I will give to my Sister but it is going in the stash for one of the other babies that will be coming, I like to have cards pre-made for babies so it is already when I go and meet the new baby and see the Mummy. This was the first time I have used Nursery Necessities but it has been sitting on my shelf for a while waiting for me to make a Baby card, Once I mounted it I realised it really is not limited to a “baby card” I can use the Boat for a boy card and lots of uses for the star’s in the set but I LOVE the cute elephant which I had to use to start off with.

I am not totally loving this card because I feel like it needs something in the bottom right corner but not sure what, I played around with brads, pearls then little buttons in a line but it looked too much… So I left them off. Do you have any suggestions?

Here is the inside of my card, Just simple with a greeting from God’s Blessing which I think is such a lovely stamp set.

Fifth Avenue Slider

slider-card-5th-ave-line.jpg

I have had such a big weekend, Well the biggest I have had in a few months, But I can say I have had a great weekend. One of my Fabulous Downlines Maree arrived in Sydney on Friday Afternoon from Jindabyne for a weekend of Stamping, Shopping and Catching up. So Friday night she and 9 others come over for a Christmas SAS {which I will show later in the week}, Saturday we went to the Stiches and Craft show were I met up with some old and new downlines {Waving Julia and Kate}, Shopped a little but with all the excitement I left very early and went home for a “Nanna Nap” before Maree come over for a dinner and a Stamping Session that night, Maree and I have these session when ever she comes to Sydney and I try to show her as much as I can fit into 5 or so hours, Then she going back home and shows her Friends and Customers.

One of the projects Maree and I made last night was this double Slider card, Which we watched the SUPER talented Makeesha Byl make it in her presentation at Convention back in May. I made mine a little different but Makessha has a tutorial on her blog showing you how to make one HERE {Thank you Makeesha if you read my blog}. All I did was were Makessha made hers like a pocket starting with 10.5cm x 21cm strip, that she folders in half. I started with a A5 sheet folded in half which is my card base, I also had a A6 Card front {Baja Breeze} that I trimmed a little to show a boarder once attached to the card base. By Doing this it turned it into a Card instead of a pocket.

slider-card-5th-ave-1.jpg

I think I need to add a tab or ribbon to make it easier to pull, You can see here why they call it a Double slider card.

slider-card-5th-ave-2.jpg

Inside the card: Because I have “SO” many layers of cardstock on the front of the card, I needed to “weight” the back down so it did not fall over when standing. I have just stamped the 3 flower images from Fifth Avenue Floral on Whisper White and layered that on Kiwi Kiss Cardstock then attached to the inside card. Not sure why I took the photo like this on a angle but you get the gist.

Krafty Tools

tools-basic-kraft-on-the-head-line.jpg

The title of this post is very suitable for two reasons, Firstly for the most obvious reason of the Materials used. Kraft Cardstock & Kraft Pattern Papers and the “Totally Tool” Stamp Set. The second reason was I had to get “krafty” with my tools to create the circle. I LOVE all my Spellbinders dies and my stash of dies are only arms length away from my work station and most are always being used. I planned out this card and started making it then I reached for my Circle Spellbinders and then remembered I lent them to a friend that needed them for a class she was teaching……. WHY, I have not used my circle dies in a few weeks because I am loving the Label One and Four dies so I am using them for most projects but It always happens that way when you lend something that you have not used, You then want to use it yourself. SO I had to go old school and use a cutting knife and a coffee mug to cut my circle.

I was pretty happy with this card because Masculine cards are sometimes hard for me because I like “pretty”, But I must also say it helped because I love this stamp set and I see lost of options with the images and the text is a little funny and cute. Below are all the images in the 5 piece stamp set for $45.95. I have used all the tool images stamped in VersaMark for the background, Then the hammer image for the main image which I have stamped on DSP and Paper Pieced the image. The only thing I was not sure on was the ribbon…. I have this thing about ribbon on Masculine cards? I am just never sure if it is suitable? What do you think?

Catty, I am also a huge fan of Red and Riding Hood Red is by far my Favourite Red Tone, I think I will be using lots of Riding Hood Red and Kiwi Kiss this Christmas {I can’t believe I am thinking of Christmas now}. Anyway, This card is a total case of a card by the SUPER talented Kelly Lunceford, Here is a link to Kelly’s card I changed the colours, Papers and added some layers {you know I use LOTS of layers} but Kelly’s card was pretty much the reason I brought this set because I loved it SO much…

Inspired Ghost

inspired-ghost-baja-line.jpg

My title for this blog entry makes me laugh because I am SO not inspired as you know but the “Inspired” comes from the stamps I used called “Inspired by Nature” which I just love, It is a stamp set that is SO easy to use and no matter what you do it looks ok. In an effort to get inspired and find my missing mojo I pulled out some old Technique notes and found notes on Ghosting and thought I would give it a go. It was a fun technique as all you do is brayer ink over Vellum and while the ink is wet stamp a “dry” bold image on the inked up Vellum and the image picks up the ink and creates this lovely and soft reversed image. It’s a great way to use up some vellum because I think every Card marker and even Scrapbookers have lots of vellum in their stash that is hardly used.

I have attached a little Printed Paper and ribbon on the main image panel, The background is just the Grass image from the Inspired by Nature stamp set which I have clear embossed to add a little pop.

a-kind-word-sliding-greeting-line.jpg

Miss me???? I know some people did because I have the emails to prove it {lol}. Well I have been back from Brisbane for a few days but I was straight back into classes, Which was not a great idea because I am still a little frazzled from all the excitement of the past week… I had such a wonderful time at the expo and I really enjoyed all my classes and everyone was just so lovely and friendly. I was able to catch up with old friends and make new ones, I don’t want to name drop but one of my new friends is the amazing and talented Zoe Pearn, Zoe is a Paper designer for My Minds Eye Which is one of my fave paper company’s. Her papers are wonderful and I love her Scrapbook style, She is an Aussie designing for an American based company, She designs from her Studio in Brisbane but I thought she was American, So when she started talking I was a little surprised to hear the Australian accent. I am pretty sure this is not the last time I will speak of Zoe {wink}

I want to thank the girls at Scrapapple Angela, Louisa and Stacey for having me teach for them, A huge thankyou to the my classroom assistants essentially Janelle and I really need to thank my Mum who saved the day several times over the week including when we got a flat tyre on my car in the middle of Brisbane and she quite bravely went into a worksite and asked some lovely guys to come and help, While I stood at my car saying No, Mum I can do it myself…. Then the guys come over and I could not even workout where my spare tyre was, Which just incase anyone else drives a PT Cruiser, our spare tyre is under the car {lol}.

I do have a little more exciting news to share about the expo but I can’t spill the beans yet…. As soon as I can I will let you know.

I do have a card to show you after all my chit chat, This is one of the cards that we did in my class this week after I got home. It is just a cute card from the front how you can see the little girl through the Window.

Kiwi Tree

t-and-prayers-choc-kiwi-line.jpg

One of the many sets that I hoped we got in our New Catalogue was this set Thoughts and Prayers, I love the Tree and Vine images in the set plus the Greetings are so handy and greetings I did not have in my Stamp Stash. As per normal I have kept the colours fairly simple using only Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss and Whisper White. SU! do not have a Kiwi Kiss Marker but I wanted to use Kiwi Kiss on the leafs with Chocolate Chip on the trunk and branches, So I first inked up the whole image with a Kiwi Kiss ink pad then with a Chocolate Chip Marker I went over the top of the trunk and branches, the Chocolate Chip covered fine over the Kiwi Kiss.

Side Note:
I have received many emails regards my brayering since posting THIS card last week, I am trying to respond to the emails but I just wanted to let you know I am also preparing a Video Tutorial so you can watch in real time as I brayer and I will share my tips that will make a difference to your brayering. That should be posted later in the week or early next week at the latest.

Thanks for stopping by.

inspired-brayer-baja-2-line.jpg

To start with I just want to Thank everyone for the sweet and very supportive response I received over the past two days, I am very touched and grateful to have so many lovely readers and friends. Thank you really…..

One of my Favourite Techniques is brayering, I just love the simple effect it creates and it just works so well with all the Silhouette stamps we have in the Catalogue. This card is really very simple, all I have done is stamped the image in Night of Navy on Whisper white Cardstock and Baja Breeze grass. Then started to brayer Baja Breeze from the top and working my way down the cardstock. Then I added a little Night of Navy along the top.

I have used Urban Garden Designer Series Paper for the Background, I just love using Printed Papers on my cards, and I really love that with Stampin’ Up! my Printed Papers match the inks and in some case’s they even match my stamps. Don’t forget that the Promotion for May is buy Three Designer Series Papers and get one FREE. Read more details HERE.

Beautiful Banksia

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

bloom-away-banksia-so-olive-line.jpg

As soon as I saw this stamp set in the Demonstrator preview before the Idea Book and Catalogue came out in April, I just knew I had to get it, I love that Stampin’ Up! have designed this set for the Australian Market. It is a fun image to watercolour as it has so much detail in each image it takes the guess work out of watercolouring the light and shade. At Convention My Marvellous Downline Maree received a swap that someone had stamped in just in Choc Chip on Very Vanilla and made a lovely Monochromatic card, so it is a set that can be used in many ways, This set is a Classic set that I have already marked as a “keeper” when SU retire it.

As I have said before I don’t think I am a great Water Colourer but at Convention I had one of those “Are you Crazy Moments” ….. I was at dinner with fellow INKling demonstrators {which is the downline family of Jayne Mercer} and I was asked by a one of the girls if I did water colouring classes? as she thinks I watercolour well {I think it was the compliment that got me in} I told her that I don’t have a water colouring class planned for a while but I could do a watercolour session at one of Jayne Mercer’s INKling training sessions {WHAT} At the time I thought it was a great idea that we all share our water colouring tips with each other…..Yeah…..Only problem……I don’t have tips besides….. use SU watercolour paper!!!! So I am on a mission to improve and practice my water colouring before the session so get ready for a few more water colouring cards.
