winter-post-plain-frame-line.jpg

Another week has just escaped me and now the weekend is over, I had a massive week and needed to do some major catch up this weekend which I am happy to say has worked and I am back on track. One of the tasks on my to do list this weekend was to take photos of all my Christmas cards I have been making, But when I look at them all I realised they are all so plain, I have not used more then 3 tones on each card, I can’t even say colours because two of the tones are Whisper White or Very Vanilla with Choc Chip or Black. So I have called this blog entry “plain” frame because I am so boring with my colour combos.

Having said that about this card being plain, I do love how simple and elegant it is. This card is also one of my Stamp-A-Stack cards for this week, So if you need to make a few more Christmas Cards and happy to make “plain” cards {lol} I still have spots in the following classes:

snow-sand-line-2.jpg

One of my favourite colour combination is Whisper White and Sahara Sand, They work so well together and always create such an elegant Christmas card. Snow Swirled is hands down one of my favourite sets this Christmas, It is a great value set because it has greetings, backgrounds and an elegant tree image for only $45.95, I have used it on the card here and I have a few more projects coming using this set. Stay tuned.

To create this card I have stamped the background with snowflakes in VersaMark and White Craft ink, The tree was stamped in Sahara Sand off centre with the greeting down the side, I have clear embossed the large snowflake on Sahara Sand cardstock and attached a small strip along the bottom of the main panel, Then tied White taffeta ribbon around the join and layered on a lager piece of Whisper White Cardstock then attached this to the card front. Simple but lovely.

Very Merry Poinsettia

christ-is-born-hood-chip-set-line.jpg

Christmas is coming, I am going to be prepared this year and not feel overwhelmed like I normally do with making last minute Christmas cards and wrapping gifts. I am really looking forward to this Christmas for many reasons but to mains reasons are we will have a new baby in the family and my three year old niece {Bailey} is at that age were she is really excited for Santa to come and understands what Christmas is about for the first year. Baileys excitement is rubbing off on me today she lead me in singing Christmas Carols, I got a little lost singing “Santa Clause is Coming to Town” but I have googled the words now and I will be fine in our next Carols session {lol}.

I have used Christ is Born for this project, I am pretty boring with my colour combos lately and this card is not different I have used Riding Hood Red, Choc Chip and Very Vanilla with a little kraft. This card is very simple but I like it. I have added detail to the card base by scoring lines down the Riding Hood Red creating dry embossed strips, I have stamped the Poinsettia image by Inking it up on the Riding Hood Red ink pad them Choc Chip Maker in the centre, The greeting is the same thing using the RDR ink pad then CC Maker and punch out with the oval punch and placed on the scallop oval from the Spring Mini {Can I just say I LOVE this punch}.

Here is inside my card:

I love wrapping my gifts to match my card, So I have stamped the poinsettia on Vanilla cardstock then attached to Kraft gift bag and made a quick tag using left overs and tied a big bow with ribbon from the Spring Mini…. I wish we had more colours in this ribbon because I totally LOVE it.

Simple Tree Trimming

tree-trimming-aug-sas-line.jpg

Tree Trimmings is one of my fave Christmas Set this year. It is in the Spring Mini and Super value at only $24.95. I could not wait to get playing with it and get a head start on my Christmas Card. For me Christmas Cards need to be simple because I make so many of them. This card is just very simple with only a few layers which I am not used to but I am really happy with this card.

To make this card, All I have done is folded Old Olive A5 Cardstock in Half. Tied Ribbon around a piece of Baja Breeze and attached to the front of the card as shown. For the main image panel I have stamps the Strings in Choc Chip at different levels using a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to make sure they are all straight, While I had the Choc Chip ink pad open I stamped the greeting for Best Yet. The Christmas balls were Stamped on Whisper White then cut out and attached with a Stampin’ Dimensional to the end of each string. I guess I could of made the cards a bit quicker had I not cut out the balls, BUT…. That’s just not me {lol}.

flower-fancy-friends-marelle-line.jpg

Well, it has been a little while since my last post…. Sorry about that. I have received several emails in the past week checking in to see if I had forgotten about my little old blog and to see if I am ok……….Well I am not sure what to say. To be completely honest I have not been making any cards lately and I have had hardly any classes {shock} I am just not feeling creative or myself at the moment, I have been a little under the weather and I am just taking a little time to “heal”. I don’t really know what to say but I am sorry for not blogging. I have however gone through my card stack and taken photos of some cards I have made and not posted mostly because I did not think they were any good so I do have some cards to show you over the coming weeks…. Don’t get too excited but they aren’t that great {lol}

I have also received over 60 emails asking for a tutorial of my secret message card from my last post, To start with I have never felt so popular so thanks for that. I have been working on a tutorial but not only am I “un-creative” at the moment, My brain is not working so it may have a short delay.

The long and short of it is, Please bear with me at the moment, I really love the fact that people visit my blog and I will try to return to normal programming soon.

In the meantime I have this quick card for you, It’s not my normal style but it was just a card I whipped up the other day for a very sweet friend of mine, A few of you may of heard of her… Well she is the famous Marelle Taylor. We had been on the phone for a “quick chat” which are never quick {lol} and I just wanted to post her a note to just say thanks for being her. I hope I am not alone, I make so many cards but I never seem to send any to friends and family…. So if you are like me, I challenge you to think of a friend or family member that needs a pick up, a thank you for something or just say Hi and send them a card…. Go on…do it.
