birthday-spring-line.jpg

Please don’t fall off your seat in shock that I have updated my blog twice in less then 24 hours {shocking I know} but I have actually made a second card using Makeesha’s sketch. This time around it’s a more masculine Birthday card and I totally love this one. I have used SO many stamp sets in this card and my craft desk looks like a bomb has hit it, so I better go clean that up because it is driving me crazy looking at it.

Here is the sketch again just to remind you:

razzle-dazzle-roses-line.jpg

I have kept this card very simple in design and colours, I have used Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose and Whisper White. I have stamped the flower flourish image in each corner of the Pretty in Pink cardstock using VersaMark then clear imaged the background. For the main image I have stamped the flower flourish in Pretty in Pink in the centre of the Whisper White Square then over stamped with a Verse in Regal Rose Ink, the Verse is SO lovely and is from the “Friendly Words” jumbo wheel which I took off the wheel and cut up {for more info on this click HERE}.

razzle-dazzle-roses.jpg

Inside I have layered Regal Rose Cardstock under Pretty in Pink cardstock and stamped the image in Pretty in Pink Ink. I will use a white gel pen to write note and then I am keeping to my colour combo.

butterfly-prints-line.jpg

This card has a little sneak peak to one of the sets in the up-coming Summer Mini Catalogue from Stampin’ Up! that starts on Dec 1st, it is the cutest butterfly set with the most lovely verse which I have used in this card, the set is called “Butterfly Prints“ and will retail for only $25.95. I think this set matches the Parisian Breeze Papers from the current Spring Mini Catalogue really well, so I could not resist using them together and also getting a chance to use the Baja Breeze Corduroy Buttons also from the current Spring Mini.

It’s great news that we have a new Mini Catalogue coming out but that means we need to farewell the current Spring Mini Catalogue, and I must say the current Mini Catalogue has some great products that you may regret not buying like Parisian Breeze and Ski Slope printed papers, The scallop oval punch, Tree Trimmings and Great Friend stamp set…. Just to name a few.

You can view the current Spring Mini Catalogue online here, I will have a link up on Dec 1st for you to view the Summer Mini online, If you would like a “real” copy email me and I will pop one in the post to you.

The verse reads:
Love is like a butterfly…. It goes where it pleases & pleases where it goes.

Materials used:
Stamps: Butterfly Prints from Summer Mini
Ink: Brown StazOn and Baja Breeze
Paper: Whisper White, Choc Chip and Parisian Breeze from Spring Mini
Other: Choc Chip Ribbon and Baja Breeze Corduroy Buttons

christmas-brayered-sky-line.jpg

I don’t make many Christmas cards that have a Winter and cold feel, because in Australia it is certainly not cold here at Christmas time but I really wanted to make a card using a brayered sky and I am still in love with my little Reindeer from Winter Post. Plain Frame

Sunday, November 15th, 2009

winter-post-plain-frame-line.jpg

Another week has just escaped me and now the weekend is over, I had a massive week and needed to do some major catch up this weekend which I am happy to say has worked and I am back on track. One of the tasks on my to do list this weekend was to take photos of all my Christmas cards I have been making, But when I look at them all I realised they are all so plain, I have not used more then 3 tones on each card, I can’t even say colours because two of the tones are Whisper White or Very Vanilla with Choc Chip or Black. So I have called this blog entry “plain” frame because I am so boring with my colour combos.

Having said that about this card being plain, I do love how simple and elegant it is. This card is also one of my Stamp-A-Stack cards for this week, So if you need to make a few more Christmas Cards and happy to make “plain” cards {lol} I still have spots in the following classes:

Cost:
$20, All materials included to make 8 cards { 4 cards of 2 designs}

t-and-prayers-clear-birthday-line.jpg

I am hooked on acetate at the moment and have used it for a few projects the past weekend. I have just left the acetate clear on this card deciding not to stamp on it with StazOn. I like the clear line I have along the top of the card and at the bottom when the card is closed you can see the scallop boarder which is attached to the back of the card.

My tips for working with acetate are: every layer on the card needs a front and back so you can cover up any tape or Stampin’ Dimensionals, if your backing is larger then the front layer be mindful when applying tape that you do not apply it to the “edge” of the largest piece as it will show. Also when you fold the acetate it is best to use a bone folder so you do get a really crisp fold. Lastly my “acetate” that I use is book binding covers that I just cut down to size and purchased from Officeworks, I used to use over head sheets but they are a little to thin and my card did not stand well, I have never had a problem with the covers.

Project by POST {Sand Swirls Christmas cards}

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

snow-sand-line-2.jpg

One of my favourite colour combination is Whisper White and Sahara Sand, They work so well together and always create such an elegant Christmas card. Snow Swirled is hands down one of my favourite sets this Christmas, It is a great value set because it has greetings, backgrounds and an elegant tree image for only $45.95, I have used it on the card here and I have a few more projects coming using this set. Stay tuned.

To create this card I have stamped the background with snowflakes in VersaMark and White Craft ink, The tree was stamped in Sahara Sand off centre with the greeting down the side, I have clear embossed the large snowflake on Sahara Sand cardstock and attached a small strip along the bottom of the main panel, Then tied White taffeta ribbon around the join and layered on a lager piece of Whisper White Cardstock then attached this to the card front. Simple but lovely.

Very Merry Poinsettia

Monday, October 19th, 2009

christ-is-born-hood-chip-set-line.jpg

Christmas is coming, I am going to be prepared this year and not feel overwhelmed like I normally do with making last minute Christmas cards and wrapping gifts. I am really looking forward to this Christmas for many reasons but to mains reasons are we will have a new baby in the family and my three year old niece {Bailey} is at that age were she is really excited for Santa to come and understands what Christmas is about for the first year. Baileys excitement is rubbing off on me today she lead me in singing Christmas Carols, I got a little lost singing “Santa Clause is Coming to Town” but I have googled the words now and I will be fine in our next Carols session {lol}.

I have used Christ is Born for this project, I am pretty boring with my colour combos lately and this card is not different I have used Riding Hood Red, Choc Chip and Very Vanilla with a little kraft. This card is very simple but I like it. I have added detail to the card base by scoring lines down the Riding Hood Red creating dry embossed strips, I have stamped the Poinsettia image by Inking it up on the Riding Hood Red ink pad them Choc Chip Maker in the centre, The greeting is the same thing using the RDR ink pad then CC Maker and punch out with the oval punch and placed on the scallop oval from the Spring Mini {Can I just say I LOVE this punch}.

christ-is-born-hood-chip-set-card.jpg

Here is inside my card:
christ-is-born-hood-chip-set-card-inside.jpg

I love wrapping my gifts to match my card, So I have stamped the poinsettia on Vanilla cardstock then attached to Kraft gift bag and made a quick tag using left overs and tied a big bow with ribbon from the Spring Mini…. I wish we had more colours in this ribbon because I totally LOVE it.

True Friends

great-friend-pocket-card-line2.jpg

Today I have a cute Friendship card to show using a set I LOVE from the Spring Mini called “Great Friend” It has so many images that appeal to me, To start off with I love, love, love Butterflies my love of Butterflies started when I was a little girl and my Dear little Grandma gave my a glittery Brooch in a Butterfly shape and I remember how much I loved it and in fact I still have it is my treasure box with other items that mean a lot to me, Grandma kept the Butterfly thing going once she realised how much I treasured the Brooch she gave me by getting me magnets and stickers as little gifts. Its funny the small highlights we remember from our childhood because I am sure Grandma had no idea that small gift would form into such a strong memory for me. … Anyway Moving on…. {focus Teneale}

I have also used the leaf image in this set for the background stamping it in VersaMark, It’s great how Stampin’ Up! Co-ordinate images within a set for example the leaf I have used on the background is also in the Butterfly wing detail {love that} AND I really love having Co-ordinating Printed Papers…. I have used the Printed Papers on the scallop. To create the scallop I punched out a bunch of Circles using my 1” circle punch and attached them along the outside of a larger circle making a lovely scallop circle.

great-friend-pocket-card.jpg

As you can see this card has a little secret pocket by pulling the little bow in the top corner, a special message is revealed…. I love designing cards with a little surprise. The stamp I have used for the “True Friend” is from the Friendly Words wheel that I took off the wheel and cut up to make a Fabulous Friendship Greeting set, To see how I did that scroll down to the next post of click here.
