birthday-spring-line.jpg

Please don’t fall off your seat in shock that I have updated my blog twice in less then 24 hours {shocking I know} but I have actually made a second card using Makeesha’s sketch. This time around it’s a more masculine Birthday card and I totally love this one. I have used SO many stamp sets in this card and my craft desk looks like a bomb has hit it, so I better go clean that up because it is driving me crazy looking at it.

Here is the sketch again just to remind you:

Butterfly Spring

butterfly-spring-line.jpg

Every Friday night I go to Makeesha Byl’s blog to see what her challenge is for the week and what the clever DT have come up with and I do this with such excitement but I have never actually joined the fun myself, so I finally completed one of her challenges {yay me} this weekend. I must admit sometimes I look at her challenges and think they are a little too “challenging” for little old me, but at least this time it was easy.

Here is her sketch challenge:

makeesha-sketch-019.jpg

I kept it all Pink for this one because……well I love Pink and can I just say it does look much better in real life with the glitter and the yummy Pink Pirouette from the Summer Mini.

butterfly-spring-front.jpg

When I was making the card I could not decide which butterfly image to use………So I used them all {lol}. It was hard to get a good photo but when you open the card the butterfly’s spring at you. It looks pretty cool if you ask me :)

love-is-in-the-air-sfytt-feb-6-line.jpg

Inspired by Valentines day which this weekend and a great sketch I found on I {heart} 2 Stamp I came up with this card. I have not used ANY stamps {shock….. I KNOW} but I had the cutest papers that I very wanted to use them. I must say I love the I {heart} 2 Stamp sketchs because they are always “challenging” and I always come up with something I would never normally do myself without that inspiration. If you have time this weekend play along, they will have a new one out on Saturday.

Here is the sketch I used….

Simple Spirits

kindred-spirits-sss-feb-line.jpg

Last week I found this GREAT challenge website called clean & simple and I suggest bookmaking this site, I struggle big time with “less is more” simple cards and I have class customers who want me to do more of this style card, SO I need to step out of my comfit zone and challenge myself. This week I took up the clean and simple sketch challenge and had a great time making the following cards, I made 2 of each colour and then put a big bow around them and gave them away as a gift. They were super quick to make and I made 6 in the time it normally takes me to make one card. I have used Stampin’ Up! Kindred Spirits Stamp in VersaMark on all the cards, for the Very Vanilla Cardstock I scored lines on the cardstock to add a little texture and used a mix of different greetings.

Here is the sketch I used:

ftl77.jpg

First up I used Mellow Moss CS and Always Artichoke ink.
kindred-spirits-sss-feb-moss.jpg

Then I pulled out So Saffron CS and More Mustard ink.

And finally Pale Plum CS with Perfect Plum ink for the greeting.

Way to go…

way-to-go-line.jpg

I was very lucky that when I was younger my wonderful Mum bestowed a good saving ethic with me and I am very grateful for that, so Mum and I are teaching my money hungry niece Bailey {who is 4} about saving. Bailey loves “collecting” money and because she is so cute and quite cheeky she has lots already…. She has a money box at her home and also one at my house when ever any of us have our wallets out or talk about money she runs and grabs her money box and just kind of “shakes” it in front of us and asks if we want to give her “dollars” with a cute face…. I am the one the caves the most and then empty out my purse, when I realised how much I was giving her I thought the kid needs to work for it {I did}, So now we have a deal if she has a “nanna nap” every afternoon at day-care she will get $3 at the end of the week. Well it took a few weeks but last week she finally earned $3, so I made her a card to say “Way to go” and give her the money.

way-to-go-bailey.jpg

I attached the coins inside with a bit of tape, her eye’s lit up when she opened the card and saw her “Dollars”.

way-to-go-bailey-money.jpg

The set I used is from Stampin’ Up! but at the back of the Idea Book & Catalogue in the accessories section on page 141 and both the Star and Greeting are from this set, The papers are from My Minds Eye

happy-moment-bird-blue.jpg

The BEST time of a Stampin’ Up! year is NOW….. It’s Sale-A-Bration TIME which means FREE STAMPS….. And I reallllllllllllllly LOVE free Stamps….. I have used one of the FREE stamps here on this card called Happy Moments and my favourite set from the SAB range. To view all the images in this set and the other three FREE stamps click HERE. To get your free Sale-A-Bration you need to spend $100 on Stampin’ Up! Product or/and if you host a workshop over $600 in sales. I just love FREE stamps so I “had” to get all four sets in straight away….

How cute is the little bird image? I have used makers to colour the image and I stamped the image twice, once on the Very Vanilla square and also on scrap Cardstock which I cut out and popped with foam mount over the top of the first image. The beautiful papers are from Stampin’ Up!, they are called Bella Blue. I have added a little ribbon and button for a finishing touch. I think I might do a tutorial on how I tie my bows because I do have a few secret on how I get it perfect….. And I get lots of email asking about my bows :)

razzle-dazzle-roses-line.jpg

I have kept this card very simple in design and colours, I have used Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose and Whisper White. I have stamped the flower flourish image in each corner of the Pretty in Pink cardstock using VersaMark then clear imaged the background. For the main image I have stamped the flower flourish in Pretty in Pink in the centre of the Whisper White Square then over stamped with a Verse in Regal Rose Ink, the Verse is SO lovely and is from the “Friendly Words” jumbo wheel which I took off the wheel and cut up {for more info on this click HERE}.

razzle-dazzle-roses.jpg

Inside I have layered Regal Rose Cardstock under Pretty in Pink cardstock and stamped the image in Pretty in Pink Ink. I will use a white gel pen to write note and then I am keeping to my colour combo.

flight-of-the-butterfly-make-a-difference-line.jpg

Have you missed me? yeah sorry about that :) I just got caught up in Christmas preparation and then I took a little break to have time with my family and just relax. I had a lovely Christmas and New Years with family and friends, I was reminded of the spirit of Christmas and the value of Family with receiving a few pieces of sad news over Christmas. It was great hearing my 4 year old niece Bailey on Christmas morning flying around the house with excitement that Santa had come, watching her open all her presents and then spend the day playing with her cheapest gift of all, a yellow Frisbee that was $2 and she not even ride her new bike that she had been asking and asking for leading up to Christmas… Kids you have to love them. Once the kids went to bed I was able to play with the new Wii that Santa left for the grown ups :). It was a lovely Christmas and everyone loved my cooking { I was a HIT} lol.

I did have more Christmas theme projects that I was going to share before Christmas but I never did SO I will just keep them for later in the year because I am ALL Christmas’ out. I made this card just before Christmas for a very special person that has had such a positive impact on my life when I was younger and to many other young people in my community, Sadly she has become very ill with Cancer that has taken over her body and she will bless our earth for only a short time longer. I felt that the verse following the butterfly was so fitting for her “One person can make such a difference and that person is you” I tell her that she turned me and many others into butterflies by giving us the skills and confidence to flap our wings and fly.

Materials used:
Stamps: Flight of the Butterfly and Polka Dot Background
Ink: Pink Pirouette and Riding Hood Red
Cardstock: Whisper White, Pink Pirouette and Riding Hood Red

Please note: {RE: Classes}
Classes are no longer starting this week, Over the break I have injured my knee and I am trying to rest it as much as possible, I am hoping to be back on track next week. I have a Doctors appointment tomorrow and then I will know more if that is possible. Sorry to all my card ladies {at least your not missing anything Deb}

Peaceful Blue

a-wish-for-peace-boarding-blue-line.jpg

I still have a few more simple Christmas cards to show before Christmas and a few ideas on packaging your gifts, I am about to go Christmas light looking with my Sister and Nieces so it better be short. I just want to say thanks for all the messages about my last post and my “lack” of cooking skills, they have all made me laugh and my sister did read me blog this morning and almost died when she realised I was so worried about cooking and Bailey’s comment, kids just say the cutest things.

This card IS SO EASY as you can tell and I really like it. I have stepped away from my layer on layer on LAYER and ribbon to create this card in bulk. I have stamped the images in Boarding Blue on Whisper White cardstock and added a little glitter to the main tree, it does look really sparkly in real life. I made about 40 of them in an hour and a bit so if you still have a few cards to make here is a quick card idea.

Classic Star

christmas-classics-tripe-star-line.jpg

OMG Christmas is now under a week away and I still have loads of cards and projects to show you before Christmas comes and goes….. Like most people I am very busy getting ready for Christmas although I finished my shopping weeks ago and made my cards months ago I still feel like I have a million things to do! for the first year I am the family “Chef” this Christmas, this is a role my sister has held for many years and always cooks the most amazing meals for our Christmas celebrations so I have such huge shoes to fill as my niece Bailey who is only 4 told me last week “My Mummy is the best at everything not you Aunty you just do good craft not cooking….Nooooooo {shaking her head} not good cooking” Can you can see what I am up against? Up until Bailey told me that I did not think I was that bad at cooking but wish me luck!

Seeing I am good at craft I better talk about these cards, I have two simple and elegant cards that are very quick to make to share with you today. For both I have stamped the star in Night of Navy ink over the front of the card and sponged the edge, I stamped the star on Navy cardstock in VersaMark and embossing in Silver then punched the image out with the Star Punch. I have embossed the greeting in Silver as well.
