Simple Tree Trimming

tree-trimming-aug-sas-line.jpg

Tree Trimmings is one of my fave Christmas Set this year. It is in the Spring Mini and Super value at only $24.95. I could not wait to get playing with it and get a head start on my Christmas Card. For me Christmas Cards need to be simple because I make so many of them. This card is just very simple with only a few layers which I am not used to but I am really happy with this card.

To make this card, All I have done is folded Old Olive A5 Cardstock in Half. Tied Ribbon around a piece of Baja Breeze and attached to the front of the card as shown. For the main image panel I have stamps the Strings in Choc Chip at different levels using a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to make sure they are all straight, While I had the Choc Chip ink pad open I stamped the greeting for Best Yet. The Christmas balls were Stamped on Whisper White then cut out and attached with a Stampin’ Dimensional to the end of each string. I guess I could of made the cards a bit quicker had I not cut out the balls, BUT…. That’s just not me {lol}.

Fifth Avenue Slider

slider-card-5th-ave-line.jpg

I have had such a big weekend, Well the biggest I have had in a few months, But I can say I have had a great weekend. One of my Fabulous Downlines Maree arrived in Sydney on Friday Afternoon from Jindabyne for a weekend of Stamping, Shopping and Catching up. So Friday night she and 9 others come over for a Christmas SAS {which I will show later in the week}, Saturday we went to the Stiches and Craft show were I met up with some old and new downlines {Waving Julia and Kate}, Shopped a little but with all the excitement I left very early and went home for a “Nanna Nap” before Maree come over for a dinner and a Stamping Session that night, Maree and I have these session when ever she comes to Sydney and I try to show her as much as I can fit into 5 or so hours, Then she going back home and shows her Friends and Customers.

One of the projects Maree and I made last night was this double Slider card, Which we watched the SUPER talented Makeesha Byl make it in her presentation at Convention back in May. I made mine a little different but Makessha has a tutorial on her blog showing you how to make one HERE {Thank you Makeesha if you read my blog}. All I did was were Makessha made hers like a pocket starting with 10.5cm x 21cm strip, that she folders in half. I started with a A5 sheet folded in half which is my card base, I also had a A6 Card front {Baja Breeze} that I trimmed a little to show a boarder once attached to the card base. By Doing this it turned it into a Card instead of a pocket.

I think I need to add a tab or ribbon to make it easier to pull, You can see here why they call it a Double slider card.

Inside the card: Because I have “SO” many layers of cardstock on the front of the card, I needed to “weight” the back down so it did not fall over when standing. I have just stamped the 3 flower images from Fifth Avenue Floral on Whisper White and layered that on Kiwi Kiss Cardstock then attached to the inside card. Not sure why I took the photo like this on a angle but you get the gist.

Krafty Tools

tools-basic-kraft-on-the-head-line.jpg

The title of this post is very suitable for two reasons, Firstly for the most obvious reason of the Materials used. Kraft Cardstock & Kraft Pattern Papers and the “Totally Tool” Stamp Set. The second reason was I had to get “krafty” with my tools to create the circle. I LOVE all my Spellbinders dies and my stash of dies are only arms length away from my work station and most are always being used. I planned out this card and started making it then I reached for my Circle Spellbinders and then remembered I lent them to a friend that needed them for a class she was teaching……. WHY, I have not used my circle dies in a few weeks because I am loving the Label One and Four dies so I am using them for most projects but It always happens that way when you lend something that you have not used, You then want to use it yourself. SO I had to go old school and use a cutting knife and a coffee mug to cut my circle.

I was pretty happy with this card because Masculine cards are sometimes hard for me because I like “pretty”, But I must also say it helped because I love this stamp set and I see lost of options with the images and the text is a little funny and cute. Below are all the images in the 5 piece stamp set for $45.95. I have used all the tool images stamped in VersaMark for the background, Then the hammer image for the main image which I have stamped on DSP and Paper Pieced the image. The only thing I was not sure on was the ribbon…. I have this thing about ribbon on Masculine cards? I am just never sure if it is suitable? What do you think?

Hey Hey, Look two days in a row…. Don’t get too excited it wont happen everyday kids :) Part of my absence from my blog over the past while has been because I have been sick with nothing serious but I just needed to rest and get better, I am now feeling much better and truly on the mend. While I was sick I was truly touched by the many get well cards and gifts I received from customers, Friends and fellow Stampin’ Up Demonstrators, It is amazing how much a card can help heal someone’s spirit. I have made up a bunch of these cards to say thank you to all the wonderful ladies who took the time to make a card for me.

I always find Watercolouring so relaxing and I always enjoy it, Which is funny because I am not normally happy with my outcome, but I was really happy with these cards {maybe because each card was made with lots of love}. I Stamped the image onto SU Watercolour Paper which I do believe is the best Watercolor paper around, I coloured the image with So Saffron and Tangerine Tango on the flower, Old Olive on the leafs and Choc Chip on the branch. I always watercolour with a blender pen and normally I squeeze my closed ink pad and then pick up the ink from the inside lid.

Friends Forever

friends-forever-rub-on-card-line.jpg

I have finally started playing with some of my new products from the Spring Mini to make a card for my Bestie Elise, I just LOVE this girl; We have been through SO much together and Elise is moving to Queensland very soon with her Family and I am going to miss her SO very much, but I just know that the friendship we have will last the distance… Hance the “Friends Forever” greeting from the Summer Love Rub-Ons which coordinates with the “Great Friend” stamp set and the same with the “Walk in the Park” Designer Series Papers that I have also used.

How cute is my button? I have used the Clear Buttons on page 151 of the Catalogue and I have cut a circle of the “Walk in the Park” Designer Series Paper and attached the circle to the back of clear button. I think the clear buttons are a great thing to have in your stash because you can use them in any project by added coordinating Papers.
