Vintage Blush

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Well its almost been a week since I started blogging… It’s fun but I think I am addicted to getting comments, My laptop is on my stamping desk and I find myself hitting refresh regularly to see if anyone has left me a comment, If I get a new comment I get so excited and I am not getting much work done, But don’t let that stop you leaving me comments :0) It has been lovely reading comments that I have inspired a few people and I am surprised with the number of visitors I am having, So Thank you for stopping by.

I need to focus and talk about this card, I have mixed feeling about this card… You know when you make a card and are happy with it…. You pack everything away, then look at the card again and don’t like it. The ladies at my class tonight all loved it, But I am still not sure. If you like my card and want to make your own, Well your in luck I have two spots left for my Technique class on Friday night, You will make this card and another card I do really LOVE, or just contact me about booking your own class and I will come to you (if you live in Sydney).

A thank you for Jayne

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Last month I attended a gathering of fellow Stampin’ Up! Demo’s for a “INKling” team dinner, It was a great night meeting other people who love Papercraft and Stampin’ Up! as much as me. I made this cute little chest for my upline and talented stamper Jayne, As a thank you for her support. I just LOVE off the page projects, They are so much fun to make and even more fun to give away as gifts.

chest-for-jayne.jpg

I used Stampin’ Up! Brocade Background printed paper on this chest, I also covered two pieces of Chipboard to make tags and using the word image from Natural Beauty to stamp “believe” and “inspire” on tags, I thought they were fitting words for Jayne. I added a little Chocolate ribbon, and a flower from my stash of non SU! embellishments. I think presentation is a very important part of gift giving… so I covered a paper bag with strips of Brocade paper.

The finishing touch was making a tag, I covered a chipboard tag with Brocade paper and stamped the ‘flourish’ from Baroque Motifs over the tag and ‘thanks’ from Much Appreciated at the bottom. “Jayne” was stamped using my favourite alphabet set ‘Jumbo Outline’ with Crystal effects over the top. I added a flower from the Pretties kit with a pearl centre. If your interested in making a chest like this yourself I have a class this Saturday on 11am, Click here for more details and contact me asap to book your place. This is the last chest class I am offering and I only have two places left, So if you live in Sydney and have Saturday free come to my class.

Sweet Motifs.

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

I am still adding some of my “old” cards to my “new” blog, So if you have seen this card before sorry I will have a new card tomorrow. I just thought I was share a bit of background on this card, which can you believe I almost put in the recycling bin before I added the flowers and pearls, I thought it was too dark and lacked detail, So I was about to throw it in the bin and then I thought to myself, I always say to people in my classes or workshops “there are no mistakes just creative opportunities” ….WHAT was I doing giving up so easy, After about 40 minutes just sitting looking at the card, I decided to stamp the flowers on Very Vanilla, Cut them out and put pearls in the centre, Once I did that the card really came together and now I am so happy I did not throw it out.

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

I am just not sure on this card… I think its the colours… I don’t know???. Anyway a little about this card that you can’t see to well from the photo: I have added texture to the cardstock by stamping the ‘distressed background’ image from Oh So lovely on the cardstock in VersaMark, I used River Rock ink on Very Vanilla (stamping off first). Then I stamped the flowers in Basic Brown and Water coloured using a Blender Pens with ink pads. I have highlighted the flowers with a White Gel pen and I added faux stitching using the mat pack for a little extra detail.

Baroque Black and white

Friday, July 11th, 2008

I am so happy with this card, It’s bold but still elegant. I stamped the Baroque background on whisper white card using a *very juicy* black StazOn ink pad, and touched up a few ‘dry’ spots with a basic black marker. Then put black cardstock over the fold of the card. I needed black ribbon and I did not have any so I dyed brown ribbon black using a black re-inker and heat set it. Wrapped the ribbon around the card and put a hat pin through the tie… I AM SO IN LOVE with pretties…
